This is an exciting opportunity for creative media professionals who have a strong eye for visual storytelling and can capture compelling footage that brings news and events to life. Job Summary The Video Journalist (Camera Person) will capture high-quality video footage for news reports, interviews, documentaries, features, live events, and other television productions. The successful candidate will work closely with reporters, producers, editors, and newsroom teams to deliver visually engaging content that meets professional broadcasting standards. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical camera skills with creativity, speed, attention to detail, and an understanding of journalistic storytelling. Key Responsibilities Capture high-quality video footage for news reports, interviews, features, documentaries, and special assignments. Work closely with reporters and producers to understand story requirements and visual objectives. Set up and operate professional cameras, lighting, microphones, tripods, and other production equipment. Select appropriate camera angles, framing, compositions, and shots to effectively tell a story. Record clear and properly balanced audio during interviews, field assignments, and other productions. Cover breaking news, press conferences, public events, community activities, and other assignments as required. Conduct field shoots independently or as part of a reporting team. Ensure that all recorded footage meets technical and editorial quality standards. Adapt quickly to changing environments and challenging field conditions. Organize, label, store, and transfer footage accurately for editing and production. Collaborate with video editors and producers to ensure footage supports the final story. Perform basic video editing or footage preparation when required. Maintain and safely operate cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, audio equipment, and other production tools. Conduct routine equipment checks and promptly report technical faults or maintenance requirements. Follow newsroom editorial guidelines and uphold professional standards in visual journalism. Maintain awareness of privacy, consent, safety, and ethical considerations when filming individuals and events. Meet tight deadlines and respond promptly to breaking-news assignments. Contribute creative ideas that improve the visual quality and impact of Climax TV productions. Qualification Required & Experience Degree/HND qualification in Journalism, Mass Communication, Film and Television Production, Media Studies, Photography, Cinematography, or a related field. Proven experience as a camera person, video journalist, cinematographer, videographer, or in a related media-production role will be an advantage. Strong knowledge of professional cameras, lenses, lighting, microphones, tripods, and other video-production equipment. Good understanding of composition, framing, lighting, camera movement, and visual storytelling. Basic knowledge of video editing software and post-production workflows will be an advantage. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality footage. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding newsroom deadlines. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work independently in the field and respond quickly to changing assignments. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when assignments require. Good understanding of journalistic ethics, professional conduct, and responsible visual reporting. A strong portfolio or examples of previous video work will be an advantage.
