The school is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and experienced Science Teacher to join its teaching team and inspire students to develop a strong understanding of science and the world around them. Job Summary The Science Teacher will plan and deliver engaging Science lessons from Creche through Junior High School (JHS). The successful candidate will create an interactive learning environment that encourages curiosity, observation, experimentation, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver effective Science lessons appropriate to students’ age, ability, and learning needs. Teach Science from Creche through Junior High School in line with the school’s curriculum and academic objectives. Develop engaging lesson plans, learning activities, demonstrations, experiments, and teaching materials. Explain scientific concepts clearly using practical examples and age-appropriate teaching methods. Encourage students to explore scientific concepts through observation, questioning, experimentation, and discussion. Organize and supervise practical activities and simple scientific experiments where appropriate. Assess students through classwork, assignments, tests, examinations, projects, and practical activities. Monitor student performance and identify areas requiring additional academic support. Provide appropriate guidance and support to students with different learning needs. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, performance, and progress. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment. Encourage students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities. Use appropriate teaching aids, technology, and educational resources to improve learning outcomes. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students’ academic progress when required. Participate actively in staff meetings, school activities, professional development programmes, and other school events. Collaborate with fellow teachers and school management to support students’ overall development. Maintain professional standards and comply with the school’s policies, procedures, and code of conduct. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum of a Diploma, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field. Demonstrated experience working as a school teacher. Strong knowledge of Science and the ability to communicate scientific concepts effectively to different age groups. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Ability to use practical and interactive approaches to make Science enjoyable and accessible. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for working with children. Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning abilities and needs. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
