As part of our continued commitment to quality healthcare, we are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and professionally driven Medical Officer to join our clinical team. Role Overview The Medical Officer will provide comprehensive medical care to patients, assess and manage clinical conditions, support emergency care, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective treatment. The successful candidate will apply sound clinical judgment, maintain accurate medical records, communicate effectively with patients and families, and contribute to continuous improvement in patient care. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care to patients. Conduct thorough patient consultations and physical examinations. Take accurate medical histories and assess patients’ presenting symptoms and clinical conditions. Develop appropriate treatment and management plans based on clinical findings. Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with established clinical guidelines and professional standards. Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans when clinically appropriate. Provide timely medical attention to patients presenting with urgent and emergency conditions. Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration and emergency situations. Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare professionals when necessary. Request and interpret appropriate laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations. Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, risks, and follow-up requirements clearly to patients and their families. Provide appropriate health education, counselling, and preventive-care guidance to patients. Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential patient medical records. Prepare clinical reports, discharge summaries, referrals, and other required medical documentation. Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, case reviews, and other relevant hospital activities. Work closely with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, specialists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care. Follow hospital clinical protocols, infection-prevention procedures, patient-safety standards, and other applicable policies. Promote safe prescribing, appropriate use of medicines, and responsible clinical decision-making. Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and other activities that improve patient outcomes. Support health-promotion and community-health initiatives where required. Maintain professional competence through continuing medical education, training, and professional development. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional medical ethics at all times. Provide appropriate supervision and clinical guidance to junior clinical staff where required. Participate in on-call, weekend, night, or other duty arrangements in line with hospital requirements. Contribute to a respectful, compassionate, and patient-centred hospital environment. Perform other clinical responsibilities assigned by the appropriate medical or hospital authority. Educational & Professional Requirements A recognised medical degree (MBChB or equivalent) from an accredited institution. Valid registration and professional licence to practise medicine in Ghana. Completion of the required internship/housemanship and other applicable professional requirements. Good knowledge of general medical practice, patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and emergency care. Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong patient-care and counselling skills. Ability to maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation. Commitment to professional ethics, patient safety, and continuous learning.
