Job Summary The IT Programmer / Software Developer will design, develop, test, maintain, and improve software applications that support business operations and user needs. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, develop effective solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain high standards of software quality. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and systems. Translate business and user requirements into functional and reliable software solutions. Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues. Develop and integrate APIs and third-party services where required. Work with databases to design, manage, retrieve, and optimize application data. Conduct software testing to ensure applications meet functional, performance, and security requirements. Collaborate with designers, IT professionals, business teams, and other stakeholders throughout the development process. Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from planning and development to deployment and maintenance. Monitor application performance and implement improvements where necessary. Maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and development records. Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve operational efficiency. Stay informed about emerging programming languages, development tools, frameworks, and industry best practices. Apply appropriate security practices to protect applications, systems, and user data. Provide technical support and guidance when software-related issues arise. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the IT and software development function. Qualification Required & Experience Degree/HND qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in software development, programming, application development, or a related IT role. Strong knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, PHP, or similar. Familiarity with web development technologies, databases, APIs, and software development frameworks. Understanding of software development methodologies, version control, testing, and debugging practices. Experience working with relational or non-relational databases will be an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality software. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Strong communication and organizational skills. Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing technical requirements.
