We are looking for a proactive, organised, and highly motivated Grant & Application Handler to join our team in Accra. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching opportunities, developing strong applications, coordinating projects, and communicating compelling stories that attract support for meaningful initiatives. About the Role As the Grant & Application Handler, you will identify relevant funding and partnership opportunities and coordinate the preparation and submission of high-quality grant applications. You will work closely with programme teams, leadership, community stakeholders, partners, and finance colleagues to develop compelling proposals that clearly communicate our objectives, impact, activities, budgets, and expected outcomes. You will also maintain an organised grant pipeline, track application deadlines, monitor reporting requirements, and support effective communication with funders and partners. Key Responsibilities Research and identify relevant grant, funding, partnership, fellowship, and sponsorship opportunities. Maintain an up-to-date database of potential funders, funding opportunities, deadlines, eligibility requirements, and application status. Assess funding opportunities and determine their alignment with the Association’s programmes, objectives, and strategic priorities. Coordinate the preparation of grant applications, expressions of interest, concept notes, proposals, and related documents. Develop clear, compelling, and evidence-based narratives that communicate programme objectives, community impact, and organisational value. Work closely with programme and technical teams to gather accurate information for applications. Collaborate with finance teams to develop realistic and well-structured project budgets and budget narratives. Coordinate application timelines and ensure submissions meet all requirements and deadlines. Review applications carefully to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with funder guidelines. Maintain an organised calendar of application deadlines, reporting requirements, grant milestones, and follow-up activities. Track submitted applications and maintain accurate records of correspondence, supporting documents, decisions, and outcomes. Respond promptly and professionally to funder enquiries and requests for additional information. Support the preparation of donor and grant reports, progress updates, presentations, and impact summaries. Collect programme data, success stories, beneficiary information, and other evidence needed to demonstrate impact. Work with internal teams to document programme outcomes and lessons learned. Develop presentations and briefing materials for funders, partners, management, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain positive relationships with funders, development partners, NGOs, foundations, corporate organisations, and other relevant stakeholders. Monitor changes in the funding landscape and identify emerging opportunities that could support the Association’s work. Improve grant-development processes, templates, systems, and ways of working. Explore innovative approaches to communicate the Association’s work and strengthen the quality of funding applications. Maintain confidentiality and ensure appropriate handling of sensitive organisational and financial information. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related discipline. Professional training or certification in Grant Writing, Fundraising, Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, or a related field will be an advantage. 1–3 years of relevant experience in grant writing, fundraising, proposal development, project coordination, donor relations, research, or a similar role. Experience preparing grant applications, concept notes, funding proposals, or partnership applications. Experience working with NGOs, associations, social enterprises, development organisations, sustainability initiatives, or community-based organisations will be an advantage. Experience developing project budgets and working with financial information. Familiarity with donor requirements, funding processes, and grant-management practices is desirable. Demonstrated ability to research funding opportunities and interpret eligibility and application requirements.
