We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and passionate Chef to join our team in Accra. The successful candidate will take responsibility for preparing high-quality meals while maintaining excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, nutrition, and kitchen management. About the Role As a Chef, you will plan, prepare, cook, and present meals in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food-safety standards, and the needs of the medical centre. You will work closely with management and relevant healthcare teams to ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and consistently. You will also maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen while managing ingredients and kitchen resources responsibly. Key Responsibilities Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced, and high-quality meals according to approved menus. Prepare meals for patients, medical staff, administrative staff, and other authorised persons as required. Follow patient-specific dietary instructions and special meal requirements provided by authorised healthcare personnel. Prepare meals that meet specific dietary needs, including modified, low-salt, diabetic, soft, or other prescribed diets where applicable. Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency. Follow strict food-safety, hygiene, sanitation, and infection-prevention procedures. Ensure proper handling, storage, preparation, cooking, and serving of food. Monitor food temperatures and storage conditions to maintain food safety. Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen, food-preparation areas, equipment, and utensils. Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use. Monitor food stocks and communicate replenishment requirements to the appropriate person. Minimise food waste through effective preparation, portion control, and proper storage. Maintain appropriate records relating to food preparation, stock usage, cleaning, and other kitchen activities. Work closely with healthcare and administrative teams to understand meal requirements and service schedules. Ensure meals are prepared and served on time. Follow established recipes, portion sizes, menus, and kitchen procedures. Maintain kitchen equipment responsibly and report faults or maintenance concerns promptly. Support menu planning and recommend improvements to meal variety, quality, nutrition, and presentation. Maintain professional standards of personal hygiene and appearance at all times. Comply with all applicable health, safety, food-handling, and medical-centre policies. Qualifications & Experience Certificate, Diploma, or other recognised qualification in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality Management, Catering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional culinary training or certification will be an advantage. 3–5 years of professional cooking or chef experience is preferred. Previous experience in a hospital, medical centre, clinic, hotel, restaurant, catering company, or institutional kitchen will be an advantage. Experience preparing meals for individuals with specific dietary or nutritional requirements is desirable. Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen procedures. Strong understanding of food preparation, portion control, menu planning, and ingredient management.
